The Belarusian Battalion named after Kastus Kalinowski, became a part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Militarnyi reports about it.
Belarusian soldiers of the battalion took the oath on Friday, March 25, the military unit’s Telegram channel reported.
“Volunteers of the Kastus Kalinowski Battalion took the oath on this important day in the history of Belarus. Today our battalion is a part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Our volunteers wrote the oath in Belarusian. We are confident that this text will be the basis of the oath for the real Belarusian army in the future, “the statement says.
The Kastus Kalinowski Belarusian Volunteer Battalion has been established since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The military unit consists only of Belarusians, and the battalion was named after Kastus Kalinowski, who in the 19th century organized an uprising against the Russian Empire in Belarus.
On March 25, Belarusians celebrate Freedom Day, which is an unofficial national holiday – the anniversary of the first national Belarusian state, the Belarusian People’s Republic (March 25, 1918).
Tens of thousands of foreigners have expressed a desire to fight for Ukraine against the russian invasion as a part of the International Legion.
The Legion also receives many applications from Russian citizens.
About 40,000 applications have already been received from foreigners wishing to join the legion.
This is the number of people who have applied – not all of them joined the legion ranks.
The most trained, combat-ready fighters of the International Legion are already performing tasks in the combat zone.
