At the Enforce Tac 2026 exhibition in Nuremberg, Swiss company SwissP Defence, part of Beretta Defense Technologies, presented a new specialized series of SHATTER4K ammunition.

The development is designed to combat small and medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicles with small arms, according to hartpunkt.

The main task of the new cartridge is to strengthen the kinetic component of anti-drone defense at close ranges. SHATTER4K ammunition can be used without any weapon modifications and is currently available in 5.56×45 mm and 7.62×51 mm versions.

After leaving the barrel, the ammunition splits into four submunitions, which continue to fly with a slight dispersion along the axis of fire.

This approach significantly increases the probability of hitting maneuverable air targets, such as multicopters, compared to conventional bullets.

The effective firing range is deliberately limited by the manufacturer to minimize the risk of collateral damage. This makes SHATTER4K an attractive solution not only for the military, but also for the police and critical infrastructure security units.

At the same time, the kinetic energy of the submunitions is sufficient to disable the engines, electronics, rotors, or batteries of drones.
