Sting Interceptor Drones Integrated With MAGURA MV11 Naval Drone

Sting interceptor drones developed by Ukrainian company Wild Hornets have been integrated with the MAGURA MV11 naval drone. The interceptors and communications systems were upgraded specifically for operation in the maritime environment.

Wild Hornets told Militarnyi about the integration.

According to the company, the work had been underway for quite some time but was not widely disclosed at the military’s request. In particular, the first targets were intercepted by Sting interceptor drones launched from unmanned surface vessels (USVs) back in the spring.

Throughout this period, alongside their combat use, the company continued working to improve the platform, interceptors and communications systems, as operations in the maritime environment have their own specific requirements.

The company separately highlighted the Hornet Vision digital communications system as an important component of integrating the interceptors for operation from maritime unmanned vehicles. The system uses an omnidirectional antenna with 360-degree coverage.

“In other words, it can simply be installed on the carrier platform to provide a stable connection without the need to develop an additional rotating mechanism, as is the case with directional antennas. It has been upgraded to operate in particularly harsh conditions,” Wild Hornets said.

In addition, the Hornet Vision Ctrl remote-control system, which provides low signal latency, became an essential part of effective operation with high-speed interceptor drones launched from platforms.

MAGURA MV11

The MAGURA MV11 was designed by the UFORCE design and R&D bureau in Portugal with international investment and a focus on carrying out missions for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

The MV11 is the largest drone in its class. Unlike earlier models in the family, it is a transport platform capable of carrying other unmanned systems and equipment for carrying out missions.

With its larger dimensions, payload capacity of up to 2,200 kilograms and endurance of up to seven days, the MV11 can operate as a carrier platform, delivering, launching and supporting other drones far from shore.

The model is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, support of amphibious operations, as well as delivering fuel and equipment for other unmanned surface vessels.

A key feature of the drone is its ability to launch a larger number of unmanned systems directly from its deck. The platform thus becomes a mobile maritime base for other unmanned systems.
