The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) attacked a Russian Project 12418 Molniya missile boat in the waters of the Caspian Sea.
This was reported on the agency’s official website.
The strike was carried out using an attack drone.
As of 2025, there is only one missile boat of this type, the Stupinets with hull number 705, operating in the Caspian Sea.
The Project 12418 Molniya is a modernized version of the Soviet Project 1241 family of missile boats.
The designers retained the hull of the previous versions but completely replaced the strike armament and significantly upgraded the electronic equipment.
The boat’s primary mission is to destroy surface ships, amphibious forces, and transport vessels, either independently or as part of a naval strike group. Developers created the Project 12418 in the late 1990s as an export variant of the modernized Project 12411 and 12417 boats.
The main change was the replacement of heavy supersonic or obsolete anti-ship missiles with the Uran-E system equipped with Kh-35 missiles. Subsequently, Russia began building such boats for its own navy.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that on the night of July 25, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out new strikes: Ukrainian drones struck two Russian cargo ships—the PORT OLYA 2 and the dry cargo ship BEGEY.
