Skelya Regiment Received Ukrainian T-84 Tanks

The 425th Separate Assault Regiment Skelya received T-84 tanks.

In honor of Tank Forces Day, the regiment posted a video on its page featuring its tank crews, in which one of these vehicles appears.

The Kharkiv Machine-Building Design Bureau (KhKBM) developed the T-84 based on the T-80UD. The first prototype was built in the 1990s, and the Malyshev Plant handled production.

The tank is armed with a 125-mm cannon with an automatic loader and is equipped with a 6TD-2 diesel engine rated at 1,200 horsepower. Its crew consists of three soldiers.

The T-84 was manufactured in small batches. Ukraine sold some of these vehicles to the United States: the U.S. military received four tanks in 2003–2004.

The U.S. tested one at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. In 2025, a T-84 tank was spotted being transported within the United States.

In Ukraine, the T-84 was used in combat after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In May 2022, Militarnyi published footage of one such tank on the front lines; at the time, the publication speculated that soldiers from the 14th Mechanized Brigade were using the vehicle.
