In the Sumy region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down a Russian Shahed drone equipped with cassettes with PTM-3 anti-tank mines under its wings.
The National Police of Ukraine reported that this is how Russian troops mine the routes of movement of Ukrainian equipment.
The PTM-3 mine is a compact, plastic-bodied mine equipped with a magnetic detonator and reacts to the approach of vehicles or their movement in the vicinity.
“We urge citizens to be vigilant and careful! This is especially true for drivers of any equipment working in the fields or moving on field roads with limited visibility due to grass cover,” the police said in a statement.

The police also warns not to approach downed enemy drones that have not exploded. Inside such UAVs, in addition to the main charge, there may be disguised booby traps or sensors that will be triggered by an attempted intervention.
Previously, the “Colonel GSh” telegram channel reported the use of Shahed attack drones armed with cluster anti-tank mines (KPTM).
These UAVs have two KPTM cassettes under their wings, each containing one PTM-3 mine. The cassette has an explosive charge that allows the mine to be dropped at a certain distance. After falling, it goes into the firing position.
The PTM-3 reacts to changes in the electromagnetic field around it, including large metal objects.
“Watch and memorize the routes of the Geranium in your area of responsibility – especially along the highways,” the sappers emphasize.
Due to its plastic body, it is difficult to detect with a metal detector. However, the firing mechanism contains metal parts. Also, the cumulative charge has a metal lining funnel.
The Russians also equipped the Lancet loitering munition with a new warhead in the form of an anti-tank mine.
