Satellites Detected Fires Near Logistics Hub and Substation in Crimea After UAV Attack

Following the UAV attack, satellites detected fires near the logistics hub and the power substation in temporarily occupied Crimea.

Crimean Wind («Крымский ветер») Telegram channel reported the incident and published video footage from the scene.

According to NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service, an abnormal temperature spike was detected around 1:00 a.m. near the logistics hub of the PUD («Продукты у дома») retail chain close to the village of Chystenke outside Simferopol.

By around 5 a.m., the fire spread significantly. Locals filmed flames and smoke rising from a building of unknown purpose located next to warehouses storing food and goods.

The retail chain has been operating in temporarily occupied Crimea since 2015, using stores seized from the Ukrainian chain ATB.

It specializes in the sale of food and non-food products.

The chain operates more than 170 stores across 56 localities on the peninsula, as well as one outlet in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

Another fire was detected overnight near the electrical substation and the building of the occupation-controlled Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) in the settlement of Ponyzivka (near Alupka).

The facility in question is the 110 kV Zarya power substation — a key high-voltage node that receives electricity from the transmission grid and steps the voltage down from 110 kilovolts (kV) to 10 kilovolts (kV).

Following the strike, power outages were reported in the settlements of Greater Yalta.

Recently, special forces from the National Guard of Ukraine’s Omega Special Operations Center struck a Russian Su-24M bomber at the Saky military air base in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

For this strike, they used a Hornet drone, which traveled more than 185 kilometers from the line of contact.
