Satellite Imagery Confirms Damage to Millerovo Air Base

Satellite imagery has confirmed damage to two radars, the technical and operational unit and an ammunition depot at Millerovo air base in the Rostov region.

Satellite images showing the aftermath of the attack were published by the Dnipro OSINT project’s channel.

The attack was carried out overnight on August 30 by the 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces using FP-1 drones. Millerovo and Yeysk air bases were targeted in the attack.

According to the satellite imagery, an ammunition depot, RSP-27 and Nebo-SV radars, and the technical and operational unit were damaged at Millerovo air base. The unit and ammunition depot were completely destroyed.

Millerovo

Millerovo military air base, located 170 kilometers from the line of contact, is used by Russian forces to launch Shahed-type strike drones and carry out airstrikes.

Millerovo air base is known to host the Russian 31st Fighter Aviation Regiment of the Russian Aerospace Forces, equipped with Su-30SM and Su-35 fighter jets.

The destroyed RSP-27 is an airfield surveillance radar that, in addition to detecting aerial targets, is an integral element of air traffic control.

The serious damage to the airfield’s technical and operational unit could also complicate preparations of Russian aircraft for sorties.

With the development of long-range drones, Millerovo is increasingly becoming a target of Ukrainian attacks. Several days before the 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out its attack. The Long-Range Strike Company of the 429th Unmanned Systems Brigade Achilles published a video of a strike.

At the time, Ukrainian troops used a RAM-2X strike drone to hit a Nebo-U radar station in the Rostov region. Ahead of the strike, a Ukrainian reconnaissance UAV conducted aerial reconnaissance of the site.

Several days earlier, the 1st Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces hit a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet at Millerovo air base.

In late August, Ukraine’s Defense Forces hit the Russian Akhtubinsk military air base in the Astrakhan region, where a Su-34 frontline bomber was damaged.
