A satellite recorded four impact sites at the 100th Arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense in the Kostroma region.
The Exilenova+ Telegram channel published the pictures.
The Russian military facility, designated as unit 55486 and located near the town of Neya, was attacked by drones on the night of January 6.
The satellite imagery clearly shows multiple fire and explosion hotspots, indicating that the strike was effective.
The types of munitions or missiles stored at the affected sites remain unknown.
Meanwhile, photos and videos from the scene, published yesterday by eyewitnesses on social media, captured heavy smoke from fires burning on the territory of the 100th arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
For residents of the southern part of Neya, local authorities set up a temporary accommodation center with capacity for 1,200 people, including overnight lodging.
Later in the day, authorities in the Kostroma region acknowledged that a fire had occurred on the arsenal’s territory.
According to media sources, the long-range drone strike on this important military facility of the aggressor state was carried out by fighters of the SSU’s Alpha Special Operations Center.
Sources claim that the 100th arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense supplied ammunition to lower-level depots in the “western and central directions.” Ukraine’s General Staff stated that the strike significantly disrupted ammunition supply logistics, reduced the operational capabilities of enemy combat units, and complicated the conduct of offensive operations. The arsenal had been attacked previously, including in May 2025.
Arsenals of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense are large military storage facilities for ammunition and weapons. They store missiles, artillery shells, and explosives, and are responsible for inventory control, maintenance, and preparation of these munitions for transfer to military units.
Such facilities are therefore important targets for Ukraine’s Defense Forces, as their destruction seriously affects the capabilities of the Russian invasion army on the battlefield. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukrainian defenders have repeatedly struck such sites. In particular, the 51st arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense in the Vladimir region exploded in April 2025. Drones have also hit the 67th Arsenal of the Main Rocket and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defense in the Bryansk region, and others.
