Russians Use A Bus to Storm Ukrainian Armed Forces Positions

A Ukrainian Defense Forces drone destroyed a Russian assault bus in the Kursk region.

Volunteer and blogger Serhii Sternenko published the video of the strike.

The bus was destroyed during an operation targeting Russian military forces, including Bombus Group pilots, who eliminated the KAvZ-39765 bus among various other vehicles.

The bus was used for transporting military personnel, but it is unknown whether it was directly involved in assault operations, as the use of such vehicles by the Russians has already been observed on the front lines.

The use of buses of this model for military purposes is not a secret, as Russian media have actively covered events related to the transfer of these buses for participation in the war against Ukraine.

For example, in October 2024, agricultural workers from the Irkutsk region sent a KAvZ bus to engage in the war against Ukraine, intended for Russian soldiers in the relevant military units. As noted by a Russian publication at the time, the bus had been specially modified for military use.

Additionally, in the Irkutsk region, the restoration of old vehicles is taking place, including KAvZ-39765 buses, which have not been produced since 2008 due to the cessation of production of bonneted buses in Russia.

The Russian army also actively uses other vehicles on the front lines, such as the UAZ Bukhanka off-road van, which, after undergoing field modifications, is involved in direct assault operations.

Vehicles with installed anti-drone ‘grills’ have also been spotted on the front lines. Although not designed for assault operations, they are also actively used by the Russian soldiers.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, together with adjacent units, fought off a Russian motorized assault on the settlement of Bahatyr.

The assault also involved 10 civilian vehicles equipped with anti-drone protection, which proved ineffective, as the defenders destroyed 9 out of 10 vehicles.

Due to significant losses in armored vehicles, the enemy is increasingly resorting to more accessible means of transportation in an attempt to seize the positions of Ukrainian defenders, which, in most cases, results in the loss of this same equipment.
