The Russians painted pictures resembling Sukhoi fighter jets on the aircraft parking lots.
This was reported on social media.
The drawings were applied over the course of several months at the air base in Yeysk.
Satellite images were taken on June 26 and July 16, the difference between them shows the progress of the works.
In June, the Russians painted the silhouettes with white paint, and in July they added blue color, which added volume to the image.
It is known that Su-34, Su-35/30, Su-27 and MiG-29 fighters are based at Yeysk airfield.
The Russians are most likely trying to create false targets that will be difficult to detect in low-resolution satellite imagery.
For such a trick to work, the satellite must take a picture at a right angle.
On satellite images with good resolution, such a pattern can be quickly recognized by the absence of details and shadows at any angle of the photograph.
In addition, such drawings will not work if the satellite uses radar reconnaissance, and this method is used by the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
Previously, Militarnyi reported that the imagery analysis company Satim Inc. has shared a way in which artificial intelligence (AI) can help identify ships.
The Russians have previously tried to hide their equipment in a similar way. They painted the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in a new camouflage, which should change the silhouette of the ships on satellite images or cameras of other intelligence tools.
