Russia has demonstrated a modernized version of the Kozerog launcher, designated Kozerog 1M.
The updated system was shown by TheDeadDistrict on X with reference to Russian developers.
Judging by the published images, the design has been significantly redesigned in terms of mobility and guidance.
The main external change is the addition of a wheeled chassis, which is intended to simplify transporting the launcher to its firing position.
The system has also been equipped with a new optical sight and modernized guidance mechanisms.
The images show redesigned manual controls for horizontal and vertical guidance, as well as an increased rotation range for the launcher.
The modernization is likely intended to make the system more convenient for field use and reduce launch preparation time.
At the same time, the basic concept of the system remains unchanged—it is an improvised launcher for firing rocket munitions.
Previously, the Russians had already demonstrated the basic version of the Kozerog, which attracted attention with its rather archaic design, more reminiscent of makeshift solutions than modern mass-produced weapon systems.
The new version looks technically neater, but does not demonstrate any fundamental changes in the concept itself.
Against the backdrop of heavy artillery losses and a shortage of certain fire support assets, the Russian army is increasingly resorting to such atypical solutions.
It is currently unknown whether this is an actual production model or yet another demonstration prototype intended for propaganda purposes.
Earlier, as reported, Russia expanded the production of artillery barrels at Plant No. 9 thanks to European machine tools.
