Russian forces have reinforced air defenses in the Dobropillia direction with a rare 2K22M1 Tunguska-M1 air defense system.
The Russian Ramzai Telegram channel reported that the system is assigned to the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle Division.
The air defense missile and gun system has undergone extensive modernization, including the installation of a new electro-optical module and, according to sources, upgrades to its radar system.
Additional protective shielding has also been observed on the vehicles.
Russia has been working on upgrades to the Tunguska system since the 1990s. The modernized 2K22M1 Tunguska-M1 entered service in 2003.
Over time, the system has incorporated new technologies that have significantly improved its combat capabilities.
One of the external identifying features of the Tunguska-M1 is the oval air-surveillance radar antenna mounted behind the turret.
The system is equipped with thermal imaging and television targeting channels with automatic target tracking.
Its digital computing system has also been upgraded.
As a result, target detection capability has increased to ranges of up to 20 km and altitudes of up to 5 km.
In the Tunguska-M1, missile guidance is fully automated, the system is linked to the battery command post, enabling real-time data exchange.
This enables automatic target allocation among air defense systems, increasing the combat effectiveness of the entire unit.
