Russian А-50 AEW&C plane arrived in Belarus

Russian А-50U airborne early warning and control aircraft has arrived on the territory of Belarus.

“Belarusian Gayun” monitoring group reported this.

The А-50U “Sergey Atayants” with the registration number RF-93966 was spotted in the country.

The plane landed at the Machulishchi airfield.

It is emphasized that this aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was previously spotted in Belarus in February 2022.

The activity of Russian AEW&Cs was recorded this summer. А-50 were interacting with the fighter jets on the territory of Belarus.

Then, according to the official version of the Belarusian and Russian authorities, the aircraft were deployed in the territory of Belarus “to conduct aerial patrols within the framework of a joint exercise and combat center for the training of aviation and air defense units.”

The А-50-type aircraft is designed to detect, track, and determine the state affiliation of air, ground, and surface targets, issue information about them to the command posts of automated control systems, direct fighter jets toward air targets, and attack aircraft toward the ground and maritime targets.

The day before, three MiG-31К aircraft were transferred to the territory of Belarus.

Within 30 minutes after 3:30 pm on December 13, three aircraft landed at Machulishchi airfield. These fighter jets could carry Kh-47М Kinzhal or R-37 missiles.

Later, two Il-76MD transport aircraft flew in at 5:50 pm and 7:20 pm. At 10:35 pm, one of them flew out from the airfield.

Enemy aviation activity is being recorded amid the announcement of a sudden inspection of the Armed Forces of Belarus.

As part of the inspection, Belarusian troops will move to certain deployment areas as soon as possible, set up their engineering equipment, and organize protection and defense there.

The military should also provide bridge crossings across the Neman and Berezina rivers.

Prior to this, it was reported that equipment, including tanks, was being moved from the Obuz-Lisnovsky landfill (Baranovichi district, Brest region) towards the Brest landfill (Brest region).
