Russia has threatened the United Kingdom with “consequences” over reports that the Ukrainian military is using British jet drones to strike targets on Russian territory.

The statement was made by the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom.

The diplomatic mission of the aggressor state claimed that such reports allegedly indicate London’s deliberate choice to escalate the war in Ukraine.

The embassy also accused Britain of complicity in Ukraine’s strikes on targets deep inside Russia and stated that London’s actions would “inevitably have consequences for which it will have to answer.”

The Russian Embassy added that the greater the UK’s involvement in the war and its support for Ukraine, the “higher price” London would allegedly have to pay.

Last week, The Times reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had used British Nyan jet-powered strike drones to attack oil refineries in Volgograd and Yaroslavl, Russia.

The Nyan drone was developed by the British company Callen-Lenz, which is part of BAE Systems’ FalconWorks tech division.

The aircraft has a wingspan of 2.9 meters and a maximum takeoff weight of over 75 kg. It is launched using a pneumatic catapult. Its cruising speed is approximately 222 km/h, while its claimed range exceeds 250 km.

The British Nyans have been in service with the Ukrainian Defense Forces for quite some time.

In late June 2024, an identical drone was spotted on Russian territory. At the time, it was mistakenly identified as a new Ukrainian kamikaze drone.

In addition to Ukraine, the Nyan drones have been adopted by the British Army. The first unit to receive these drones was the 26th Regiment Royal Artillery, part of the 3rd Division.

Drones are used as a long-range weapon and to supplement the artillery capabilities of British units.
