Russia Uses Unknown Drone Carrying Two TM-62 Mines, Possibly New Variant of Molniya Family

Russian forces began using a previously unknown type of kamikaze drone carrying two anti-tank mines, reported Serhii Flash, an adviser to the President of Ukraine on the development of defense technology.

Visually, the drone resembles UAVs from the Molniya family. It features a fuselage formed by two booms, with a battery bay in the central section.

The drone’s large wing size and empennage are particularly noticeable.

Presumably, they were designed to increase lift, flight range, and gliding time.

One electric motor of an unknown type is mounted on each side of the wing.

Two anti-tank mines, likely TM-62s, are mounted in the nose section. This configuration has previously been seen on Molniya-2 models.

It is also apparent that there is an element installed in the rear section of the fuselage, which may serve as a counterweight to the warhead.

Without such an element, the drone would likely have a forward-shifted center of mass and lose stability in flight.

Commenters on the post noted that such drones had already been spotted flying toward Snihurivka.

On July 30, it was reported that Ukrainian forces had identified an unusual configuration of the Russian Gerbera multipurpose UAV, which was towing an FPV drone on a rope or cable.
