Starting in late summer 2026, a new MOKH module began to be detected in Russian Geran-class attack drones. This module is designed to improve the accuracy of autonomous navigation without the use of a satellite signal.
A representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) shared this information in a comment to Militarnyi.
According to him, the drone’s inertial navigation system has also changed with the introduction of the new module. Two additional sensors, located in the left and right wings, are connected to it. Together with the central module, they form a three-point measurement system that allows for more accurate determination of the drone’s motion parameters during autonomous flight.
“This creates a triangle—a measurable inertial environment—that allows for greater accuracy in autonomous navigation without satellite navigation,” explained the DIU representative.
According to him, even if other guidance systems are jammed, the drone will still be able to continue its flight to the designated area.
Accuracy in this mode will be lower, but the system should allow the drone to remain capable of striking targets without a stable satellite signal.
In this way, Russian developers are attempting to reduce the strike drones’ dependence on external navigation systems, which can be jammed by electronic warfare measures.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) also notes that the overall trend regarding the use of foreign electronic components in Russian weaponry has not changed significantly.
In cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as in some attack drones, U.S.-manufactured components continue to account for the largest share of the foreign electronics identified.
A DIU representative named Texas Instruments and Altera among the manufacturers.
Products from STMicroelectronics and Chinese manufacturers are also found in Russian weapons systems. In certain types of Russian weapons systems, notably the Garpiya and Filin, the proportion of Chinese components already predominates.
The DIU representative also reported that Russian manufacturers are increasingly physically destroying markings on foreign electronics even during the weapons production process.
According to him, this is done on a massive scale on the assembly line to make it more difficult to determine the true origin of the components.
China remains one of the main channels through which foreign electronics enter Russia, as it is home to major distributors of Western manufacturers. Once the components are resold to local companies, it becomes much more difficult to track their subsequent movement.
