Russia To Build Uncrewed Vessel For Submarine Detection And Expand Naval Drone Units

Russia will build a 500-ton uncrewed vessel for anti-submarine warfare and expand unmanned systems units within the Navy.

Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, announced this.

According to Moiseyev, the project has already been included in the current State Armament Program, and its implementation has entered the practical stage.

“It is already being built; this will become the first such vessel. It will lay the foundation for the further development of uncrewed systems,” the Russian Navy commander-in-chief said.

In addition to the new vessel, Moiseyev announced the expansion of Russia’s naval unmanned systems component.

According to him, the Northern Fleet has already formed the first unmanned systems regiment, which includes two divisions of surface uncrewed platforms and one division of underwater unmanned vehicles. A second similar regiment is planned to be formed within the Pacific Fleet in 2027.

Militarnyi previously reported that Russia had developed an experimental Plot-40 floating fire support platform designed to protect naval bases and ports from uncrewed surface vessels.
