Russia Launches 90 Missiles and 600 Drones at Ukraine Overnight, May 23–24, 2026

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 690 air attack assets, including 90 missiles and 600 drones of various types.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched one intermediate-range ballistic missile from the Kapustin Yar launch site in Russia’s Astrakhan region.

The attack also included two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles fired from Russia’s Lipetsk region and three 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles launched from occupied Crimea and Russia’s Kursk region.

In addition, Russian forces launched 30 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles from the Bryansk and Kursk regions and occupied Crimea.

Russia also fired 54 cruise missiles, including Kh-101, Iskander-K, and Kalibr missiles, launched from the Vologda and Kursk regions and from the Black Sea.

Among the 600 drones launched by Russian forces were Shahed UAVs, Gerbera and Italmas drones, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones.

Russian forces launched aerial assets from the Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Rostov regions (the Millerovo area), as well as from Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai and from temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories in Crimea, including Hvardiiske and Chauda.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported destroying 604 aerial targets, including 11 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, 44 Kh-101, Iskander-K, and Kalibr cruise missiles, and 549 drones of various types.

As of 11:00 a.m. on May 24, officials confirmed that at least 65 people had been injured in Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region, while four people were killed.

The highest number of casualties was recorded in Kyiv, where two people were killed – two women aged 44 and 86.

A total of 56 people were injured, including two children. Thirty of the wounded were hospitalized in city hospitals, and three remain in critical condition.

At least 27 apartment buildings were damaged, along with a market, a business center, and a shopping mall.

In the Kyiv region, damage and destruction were reported to private homes, apartment buildings, a medical outpatient clinic, and a logistics center in the Vyshhorod, Brovary, Fastiv, and Bucha districts. Two people were killed, and nine others were injured.
