Russia announces new drone attack, which was “successfully repelled”

On the night of Friday, March 1, explosions occurred in the Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation.

It is stated that unknown drones allegedly tried to attack a defense plant in the city of Dzerzhynsk.

The target of the attack could have been the Sverdlov plant, which is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex and specializes in the manufacture of explosives.

According to local residents, there were at least two explosions. They occurred around 2 a.m. local time. Witnesses saw bright flashes in the sky.

The relevant footage, where explosions can be heard, was captured by CCTV cameras in different parts of the city.

According to some local media, after the sounds of explosions, emergency vehicles moved towards the Sverdlov plant. The road to the plant was also blocked.

Later, the Russian Defense Ministry said that three drones had allegedly been shot down over the city’s industrial zone at night.

As previously reported, last month, drones attacked the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant in Russia.

On the night of February 24, residents of the region reported hearing explosions near Lipetsk, from the direction of a metallurgical plant, preceded by the hum of a drone in the sky. After that, a fire broke out on the territory of the coke chemical workshop.

Lipetsk regional Governor Igor Artamonov called on the population of the region to remain calm, assuring that the special services were on maximum alert and were checking information about the drone raid. Later, he reported only that two UAVs had been intercepted in the Lipetsk region.

According to the sources of the Ukrainian state TV channel Army TV, the night attack on the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant was jointly organized by the SSU and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. This metallurgical plant works for the Russian military-industrial complex and fulfills a large number of government orders.
