Rover Tech and StrongholdAI to Develop AURA Detection System

The Ukrainian company Rover Tech and the French company StrongholdAI have signed an agreement to develop the AURA detection system and integrate it into the TARANTULA active protection system.

The project involves a suite of audio and video sensors powered by edge artificial intelligence, designed to detect, classify, and alert on nearby aerial threats.

The system is capable of detecting, among other threats, fiber-optic-guided drones. AURA can be installed on vehicles and ground robotic systems and used to protect stationary facilities. Its stated detection range is between 50 and 250 meters.

According to StrongholdAI, the system has already been deployed with combat units in Ukraine as part of a phased operational rollout.

After detecting a threat, the TARANTULA system deploys a 6×6-meter net toward the target. The net launcher is mounted on a dedicated module consisting of a system of omnidirectional mortar tubes.

The display features the Zmiy Droid 12.7 armored strike ground robotic system, designed to operate in active combat conditions.

The platform is used for infantry fire support and in both defensive and offensive operations, and therefore requires a protection system.

The stated target engagement range is up to 1 kilometer, the towing capacity is 700 kilograms, and the operational range is up to 50 kilometers.

The platform is adapted for the installation of a 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun. The system supports multiple communication channels and fully remote operation, including weapon firing.

The drone’s systems are equipped with artificial intelligence for target detection, acquisition, and tracking, as well as an integrated ballistic computer that improves engagement accuracy.

The Zmiy Droid 12.7 also features a suite of optical observation systems, including narrow-angle and wide-angle cameras, as well as a thermal imaging camera – all designed to ensure effective operation both day and night.
