Germany’s Bundeswehr has signed a contract with Rheinmetall for the delivery of 1,388 military logistics trucks worth approximately €770 million.
The order includes 963 vehicles with interchangeable bodies, some of which will feature armored cabs. Separately, 425 UTF (Ungeschütztes Transportfahrzeug) trucks have been ordered, available in 4×4 and 8×8 configurations.
“As a reliable partner of the Bundeswehr, we are pleased to supply additional vehicles and thus contribute to the mobility and operational readiness of the armed forces,” Rheinmetall said.
Delivery of all 1,388 vehicles is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.
The UTF order is an addition to a framework agreement signed in July 2024, which marked the largest logistics vehicle order in the company’s history.
The framework deal allows for the delivery of up to 6,500 vehicles, with a total potential value of up to €3.5 billion.
Under the agreement, the Bundeswehr can procure more UTF 5t and UTF 15t trucks, which are already in service.
The deal also introduces a new category — the UTF 3.5t 4×4 — designed for maximum compatibility with the rest of the UTF vehicle family.
The UTF fleet has significantly enhanced the Bundeswehr’s logistics capabilities in recent years.
The trucks feature a modular design that supports a variety of superstructures, including container systems, pallet modules and other load carriers.
