The German concern Rheinmetall has confirmed the upcoming transfer of the LUNA NG unmanned aerial system.

This was announced on the company’s official website.

The system should be ready for delivery in the course of 2023. The currently placed order is worth a low double-digit million euro amount.

The company is proud to have made a significant contribution to Ukraine’s victory in this war and plans to continue providing military equipment to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The experience of using other unmanned systems has shown the company the direction of development to improve its drone reconnaissance capabilities.

The LUNA NG unmanned aerial system comprises a ground control station, the launch catapult, optional net equipment for catching the drones when they land, as well as equipment for rapid repair and several unmanned aerial vehicles. The entire system is mounted on an HX truck with a swap body system made by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles.

Due to their ultralight high-stability design, LUNA NG drones can remain aloft for over twelve hours. Moreover, when fitted with optional StaCom equipment, they have a datalink range of up to 300 kilometers.

The drone’s maximum takeoff weight is 100 kg, the flight speed is 80-150 km/h, and the flight range exceeds 150 km.

The transfer of these systems to Ukraine is part of a large aid package from the German government.

Militarnyi previously reported that Germany has pledged €5 billion in annual military aid to Ukraine until 2027.

Now the German parliament has to approve the decision on financing.

To date, Germany has already provided €22 billion in financial support to Ukraine, including €12 billion in military assistance.

“Ukraine can continue to count on Germany and the international community to support Ukraine. We have already found funds for Ukraine in the amount of €22 billion. This is a large amount,” Lindner said.
