Milrem Robotics will supply Ukraine with more than 150 THeMIS ground tracked robotic platforms.

The company announced this on its website.

The delivery will be made as part of a defense initiative funded and coordinated by the Netherlands.

Most of these ground drones will be assembled and shipped to Ukraine in cooperation with the Dutch company VDL Defentec.

The record delivery of THeMIS was announced back in September. However, the country with which this order would be fulfilled was not named at the time.

The THeMIS ground drone in the demining version is being prepared for the transportation of unexploded ordnance in Ukraine.

On October 6, Milrem Robotics and VDL signed an agreement with the participation of the Dutch Minister of Defense.

“Milrem Robotics Netherlands will supply the equipment in close cooperation with VDL Defentec, which is creating a special final assembly line at its plant in Born. The assembly line is designed to be scalable, which will allow for increased production and deliveries in line with future needs,” Milrem Robotics stated.

The Estonian company will provide comprehensive training for Ukrainian operators and support staff to ensure the effective deployment of THeMIS tracked drones and their maintenance in the field.

The new robotic systems will complement the 15 THeMIS already in operation in Ukraine and have proven their effectiveness on the battlefield since 2022.

Previously, the Ukrainian company Frontline, together with Milrem Robotics, has successfully integrated the Buria grenade launcher into this ground drone.

THeMIS

The THeMIS tracked robotic platform can be equipped with a variety of systems depending on the task. The drone’s maximum speed is 25 km/h, and it is controlled remotely. Additionally, the platform can be programmed to transition between predefined control points.

With a curb weight of 1,635 kg, THeMIS has a nominal payload of 750 kg and a maximum payload of up to 1,200 kg. This figure allows the platform to be used as a cargo, evacuation, reconnaissance, or combat platform.
