Posipaky Unit Downs 2 Advanced Russian Shahed-Style Drones

The Ukrainian Posipaky UAV interceptor unit successfully shot down two advanced Russian Shahed-style drones.

Volunteer Serhii Sternenko reported the achievement and shared footage of one of the interceptions.

Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence revealed that those drones could serve both as reconnaissance tools and decoys, designed to identify and overwhelm Ukrainian air defense systems.

According to some reports, it can also carry a warhead weighing up to 15 kilograms.

The drone’s fuselage is designed in the shape of a delta wing, similar to the Shahed-136, but significantly smaller in size.

Most of the components used in this Russian drone are of Chinese origin.

According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, nearly half of these parts – including the flight controller with autopilot, navigation modules and antennas, airspeed sensor, and Pitot tube – come from a single Chinese company, CUAV Technology, which specializes in research, development, and manufacturing of system modules and applications for UAVs.

The drone is also equipped with a Chinese-made version of the Australian RFD900x data transmission module by RFDesign.

Like the original, the Chinese product is designed to transmit data over long distances – up to 40 km in line of sight, depending on the antenna.

This device enables the establishment of a data transmission channel from the drone to its ground station or from one UAV to another, thereby enhancing reconnaissance capabilities.

The Shahed-style drone is equipped with a Chinese engine and a DLE-60 electronic ignition module.

It’s worth noting that recently the Chinese-Russian company PGI Technology introduced a fiber-optic cable reinforced with kevlar.
