The Polish army has ordered additional artillery to strengthen its capabilities.
The Polish army will receive 48 Polish-made AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers.
Today the Armaments Agency of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland and the company Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. signed a contract in the amount of 3.81 billion zlotys. Krzysztof Płatek, the agency’s spokesman, revealed its details on Twitter.
The military will receive 48 Krab self-propelled howitzers and 22 command vehicles, 12 ammunition support vehicles and 2 mobile workshops for weapons repair.
The armed forces of Poland should receive military hardware and equipment in 2025-2027.
The licensed British AS90 howitzer turret is being used in the Krab’s production. The barrel length is 52 calibers.
It is mounted on the South Korean K9 Thunder ACS chassis.
The effective range of fire is 30 kilometers, and the maximum range is 40 kilometers.
Polish-made howitzers can fire up to six rounds per minute.
AHS Krab will be manufactured by Huta Stalowa Wola, which is part of the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa holding.
AHS Krab self-propelled artillery gun-howitzers, handed over to Ukraine by Poland, are already executing combat missions at the front.
Along with these howitzers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also received command vehicles for them.
