Poland-crowdfunded Bayraktar drone for Ukraine to be provided for free by manufacturer

The Turkish defense company Baykar Makina will hand over yet another drone to Ukraine for free. The UAV was crowdfunded by the people of Poland.

This was reported on Facebook by the initiator of the fundraising, journalist Sławomir Sierakowski.

Funds collected in Poland for the drone will be become additional aid to Ukraine.

“Great news! Our aid is doubled,” Sierakowski wrote after negotiations with the Turkish and Ukrainian parties.

The initiator of the campaign also published the document he received from the Turkish drone manufacturer.

The letter stressed that the company is “impressed that hundreds of thousands of Polish citizens participated in the campaign.”

“We want to participate in your humanitarian solidarity movement on your side with an offering. In light of your campaign, we will provide a Bayraktar TB2 to the people of Ukraine free of charge so that they can better protect their homeland,” Baykar Makina emphasized.

On July 24, it was announced that Poland has raised 100% of the funds needed to buy Bayraktar TB2 strike drone for Ukraine.

Sierakowski noted that despite achieving the goal of the campaign, fundraising will last for several more days, since there is a large number of people who want to join it.

Sierakowski added that the excess of funds collected as part of the campaign will be transferred to the account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the National Bank of Ukraine.

The Bayraktar TB2 drone from Lithuania named Vanagas (Hawk) has already arrived in Ukraine. It was crowdfunded by the citizens of Lithuania.

Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish-made medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle. It is made by the Turkish company Baykar Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
