Pearson Engineering has secured a contract from the UK’s Ministry of Defence to provide Ukraine with equipment to defeat the threat of mines and improvised explosive devices.

The company stated that it had signed a contract with the UK Ministry of Defense.

The document was signed within the previously announced £100 million mine clearance capability package.

The contract includes the supply of multi-purpose vehicle interfaces that will allow armored vehicles already in Ukraine to accept self-protection mine plows which have been gifted by the British Army and refurbished by Pearson Engineering.

In addition, these interfaces will allow Ukraine’s armored vehicle fleet to not only use mine plows to clear safe routes, but also to accept a wide range of other types of ground engaging equipment, should it be needed, to defeat other types of natural and deliberate obstacles.

Remotely controlled mine clearance vehicles called MW370 have also been provided.

They are designed to defeat ordnance and to create safe routes across large stretches of civilian land.

“Design and delivery of this type of lifesaving equipment is at the heart of Pearson Engineering’s operations. We have supplied more than 3,000 mine plows of various types around the world, and we continually invest to ensure that we can defeat modern threats as they evolve,” Ian Bell, Group Chief Executive Officer at Pearson Engineering, said.

This February, the United Kingdom announced the transfer of a new Minewolf 370 mine clearance vehicle (MW370) to Ukraine.

The MW370, developed and manufactured by the Swiss company Minewolf Systems, is a remotely controlled mine clearance vehicle with a protected armored capsule of the operator and mine trawl.

The mine trawl is adapted for demining territories with dense and difficult-to-pass vegetation, which is especially relevant for demining typical Ukrainian lands such as forests and agricultural land.

The trawl allows for defusing mines with an explosive weight of up to 15 kilograms in TNT equivalent. The depth of demining is kept at 35 centimeters, vegetation on the ground is removed, and large vegetation is crushed.
