Norway will ship a batch of military aid, that would include Mistral portable anti-aircraft missile systems, to Ukraine.

Militarnyi informs about it.

Today, April 20, Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, shared in his Telegram channel that Norway will be sending approximately 100 Mistral portable anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.

“Good news in the morning. Norway has decided to transfer approximately 100 Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, as per the country’s Ministry of Defense. Also, there are fighter jets coming from the allies,” Yermak said.

However, from the message, it is not clear whether it is the total number of launchers or the total number of anti-aircraft missiles transferred together with the launchers.

Mistral is a man-portable anti-aircraft missile system designed to hit targets such as helicopters and airplanes at low altitudes.

It was designed in France, and in 1987 it was adopted by the Ground Forces of France. In 2000, an upgraded model was designed – Mistral 2, and later Mistral 3.

Its short-range anti-aircraft guided missiles are equipped with an infrared homing head, which allows you to hit air targets with a thermal signature.

This system is actively exported and is in service in many countries around the world.

It was previously reported that some members of the Norwegian parliament were proposing to transfer the Norwegian weapons to Ukraine.
