The North Korean military-industrial complex has presented a wheeled tank based on a copy of the American Stryker armored personnel carrier.
This was reported by the DPRK arms observer KPA_bot in his account on X.
The combat vehicle was demonstrated at the Exhibition Defence Development-2025, which also showed a new air defense system similar to Russian Pantsir.
The wheeled tank is built on a chassis that was publicly shown back in October 2020.
Externally, the new product resembles American M1128 MGS, a variant where a 105 mm M68A2 rifled gun is mounted on the roof of a Stryker armored personnel carrier.
At that time, based on the characteristic gap between the second and third axles, it was concluded that the chassis was based on APCS-80 or its local copy M2010 (Chunma-D).
Compared to 2020, the vehicle’s hull has been significantly modernized: the sides received additional hinged armor protection, and the headlights moved to the bumper.
The cannon is now housed in a full-fledged turret, with a muzzle that resembles the Soviet 122 mm D-30 howitzer or its Chinese copy Type-96.
It is possible that this is a previously unknown North Korean version of the howitzer.
The turret is also equipped with mortars for setting up smoke screens, a remote-controlled combat module with a 7.62 mm machine gun, and a panoramic sight located in the aft part of the turret.
A large-scale model of this combat vehicle was demonstrated last year, but the prototype shown in 2025 has visual differences, primarily in the hull design.
It is not known whether this combat vehicle will go into production, but the North Korean defense industry has produced a fairly large number of copies of Stryker.
