NATO Orders €200 Million Worth of 120mm Tank Shells from Rheinmetall

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has placed an order with Rheinmetall for 120mm tank ammunition worth approximately €200 million.

Rheinmetall announced this in a press release.

This order is the first firm contract under the 2025 framework agreement for 120mm ammunition. The end customers will be various NATO countries.

The framework agreement signed with NSPA in July 2025 outlines the terms and conditions, as well as the technical specifications, for various types of 120mm tank ammunition. NATO countries and states with equivalent status can use this framework agreement to streamline the procurement of Rheinmetall ammunition.

They can order them directly through NSPA, which significantly simplifies the procurement process of 120mm tank ammunition within the Alliance.

Rheinmetall is actively increasing its ammunition production capacity in Europe. For instance, in the fall of 2025, it was announced that agreements had been made to build new ammunition factories in Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, and Bulgaria.

According to the plan, the company aims to produce at least 1.1 million 155mm artillery shells annually by 2027.
