Ukrainian drones struck the Russian Gorky oil pumping station in the Nizhny Novgorod region on the morning of April 23.

The report comes from the Exilenova+ Telegram channel and is supported by data from NASA’s FIRMS satellite monitoring system.

The facility is located in the settlement of Meshikha, near the city of Kstovo. A fire broke out at the site after the strike.

At least one storage tank is burning on the station’s premises. Thick black smoke is visible from nearby settlements.

The Gorky station is one of the key oil pumping facilities in the structure of Transneft–Upper Volga JSC.

The station serves both as a main and an intermediate hub, pumping oil from Western Siberia through trunk pipelines (including the Surgut–Gorky–Polotsk route) to major refineries in central Russia and for export.

According to Reuters, Russia was forced in April to significantly reduce oil production and limit supplies to Europe due to attacks by Ukrainian drones.
