Starting from January, another 19,200 Ukrainian servicemen will be trained on the territory of Great Britain.
Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain announced this.
Soldiers and officers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine will be the ones to undergo training.
“During the 8 years of the war, they trained about 25,000 of our officers while in Ukraine. Currently, this work has been transferred to Great Britain. We are currently completing the training of about 10,000 servicemen by the New Year.
Starting from January 1, another 19,200 soldiers and officers will be trained on the territory of Great Britain,” said Prystaiko.
According to the ambassador, Britain is not conducting this training on its own, it has involved ten other nations. The UK acts as the coordinator of assistance for the training program for Ukrainians.
“Most of them are infantry, among whom leaders are chosen to grow into sergeant’s corps. They will also grow into the future young commanders,” Prystaiko said.
Great Britain also continues to provide other assistance to the Ukrainian military.
Soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine undergoing training under Operation INTERFLEX are to receive sets of winter uniforms.
Great Britain will deliver a new batch of weapons to Ukraine in the coming weeks. It will include various means of air defense, such as anti-aircraft guns and short-range air defense missiles. The condition under which Ukraine can receive long-range weapons from Great Britain has also become known.
As previously reported, the Canadian military completed the last training series of exercises for Ukrainian forces as part of Operation UNIFIER in 2022.
In 2022, UNIFIER training took place in the United Kingdom. Instructors from Canada and Great Britain joined forces to train the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Exercises under this program are planned to be resumed in 2023.
