Lyman is completely cleared from the invaders – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region is completely cleared from the invaders.

This was announced in his Telegram channel.

“As of 12:30 p.m., Lyman is completely cleared,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian military entered the city the day before, but the fighting was still ongoing at that point.

On October 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the withdrawal of troops from Lyman, Donetsk region, which was entered by the Ukrainian troops prior to that.

On the morning of October 1, Serhii Haidai, Head of the Lugansk Regional Military Administration, reported that more than 5 thousand Russian soldiers were surrounded in the Lyman area.

According to him, the Russian command did not allow them to leave the surrounded area.

Also, Serhii Cherevaty, Spokesman for the Operational Command “East”, confirmed on the air of the Ukrainian telethon that the Ukrainian troops took control of five settlements near Lyman and completed the encirclement of the Russian groups.

“The Russian group in the Lyman area is surrounded. The settlements of Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandrigolove, Drobysheve, and Stavky are liberated. There, the stabilization measures are taking place,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelensky announced the liberation of the village of Yampil in his evening address on September 30.
