The Lithuanian government has announced a new military aid package, which will include armored vehicles and ammunition.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania announced the news on its social media pages.

New military assistance from Lithuania includes:

  • 10 more M113 armored personnel carriers,
  • over 2.5 million rounds of ammunition,
  • thousands of pieces of anti-tank ammunition for grenade launchers.

Representatives of the country’s defense department do not disclose the type of anti-tank ammunition planned for transfer. However, the country is armed with an 84-mm Carl Gustav grenade launcher. These grenade launchers are also used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The term “anti-tank ammunition” can also mean disposable anti-tank grenade launchers. The Armed Forces of Lithuania are massively using the Swedish AT4 anti-tank grenade launchers and the Finnish M72 LAW.

The new military aid should also include two launchers of the NASAMS air defense system committed by Lithuania, which are expected to be delivered within the next three months.

According to Lithuanian government officials, the total value of the military aid transferred by Vilnius already exceeds €500 million.

The country constantly supports the Ukrainian military in the fight against the Russian invaders. The latest batches of military assistance from Lithuania included air defense systems, anti-drone guns, dry rations, ammunition, military training services, and rehabilitation of the wounded.

Lithuania is also training the Ukrainian military to maintain M113 tracked armored personnel carriers and PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers. Lithuanian military personnel provides theoretical knowledge to the Ukrainian servicemen. They demonstrate the structure of armored personnel carriers, self-propelled howitzers, and their mechanical components in practice.
