Lithuania will be repairing Ukrainian PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers

Lithuania will be repairing the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, announced this.

“Lithuania is taking on a new mission – the PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers owned by Ukrainians will be repaired,” Arvydas Anušauskas said.

The Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers will presumably be repaired at the Lithuania Defense Services (“LDS”).

This repair and maintenance of military equipment service was created in June 2022 by the German Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The enterprise is located in the central part of Lithuania.

The enterprise was established for the logistical support of combat vehicles of the Armed Forces of Lithuania along with the armored vehicles of contingents of other NATO countries stationed on the territory of the Baltic States.

The modern maintenance and logistics center takes up a space of about 12,000 square meters.

The enterprise is capable to service Boxer and PUMA armored vehicles, Bergepanzer armored repair and evacuation vehicles, various versions of Leopard-2 tanks, and 155-mm Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers.

As previously reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received 10 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers from Germany.

Another 8 of these 155-mm howitzers were handed over by the Netherlands.

Panzerhaubitze 2000 is a German self-propelled artillery howitzer with an automatic loading system and a high automation level of all systems.

It uses NATO-standard separate-loading rounds. It is equipped with a muzzle brake and an ejector. The gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers and is equipped with a charging chamber. The vehicle carries 60 artillery shells and 228 propellants on board. The range of firing standard ammunition is 30 km.
