Lithuania intends to allocate funds for the production of Ukrainian long-range weapons.

Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas announced this during the 24th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) in the Ramstein format.

“It’s no secret that the military assistance we provide is not enough to defend Ukraine, which is being destroyed by Russia, and to achieve its victory. If we cannot provide enough weapons, then we must lift all restrictions on the transfer of Western weapons to Ukraine or invest in Ukrainian long-range weapons,” the minister said.

Among the options for which Lithuania could allocate funds is the Ukrainian-made Palianytsia long-range missile-drone. The option of a ballistic missile system is also being considered.

During the meeting, the minister called on allies to join the coalition to improve the capability of Ukraine. According to him, the allocation of funds for the production of long-range drones or missiles allows Ukraine to decide where and what enemy targets to destroy.

The minister also said that at the end of September Lithuania would hand over the previously announced aid package to Ukraine.

It includes M113 armored personnel carriers, short-range air defense systems, drone jamming systems, all-terrain vehicles with spare parts, transport and logistics equipment, weapons and computers.

At the same time, Oleksandr Kamyshin thanked Lithuania for allocating €10 million for the production of Palianytsia long-range missile-drones.

“We have received a new confirmation from the Lithuanian Minister of Defense on the allocation of €10 million for the purchase of the Ukrainian Palianytsia missile-drone! Soon, more Russian cities will be learning these euphonious Ukrainian words,” he said.

The development of a new missile-drone was first announced on August 24, 2024. Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin said that on August 24, the new weapon had successfully been used for the first time. This information was also confirmed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“It struck an enemy military facility in the temporarily occupied territory,” said Kamyshin.

The next day, a rendering of the new missile-drone’s appearance was shown in a video by the United24 initiative. According to United24, the new Palianytsia long-range missile-drone was developed by Ukrainian specialists in the shortest possible time to create a response to Russia’s constant missile attacks.
