The Russian Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik, eliminated in the Moscow region, was responsible for monitoring the situation in the war in Ukraine and reporting to Putin.
This is mentioned in the obituary published in the Russian Ministry of Defense newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda, Astra reports.
Moskalik held the position of Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff.
It is noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he led a combat control group that monitors the situation in the combat zone.
Between 2015 and 2021, the Russian lieutenant general was a member of the Russian Ministry of Defense delegation in the working group on security matters of the Minsk Contact Group.
He participated in meetings in Minsk, as well as negotiations in the Normandy format in Berlin and Paris. He also prepared materials for the leader of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, regarding the situation in the “southeast of Ukraine.”
In 2015, he participated in planning the military operation in Syria and also performed “work on regulation in Syria.”
Additionally, from 2002 to 2005, according to propaganda media, Yaroslav Moskalik “carried out tasks during the counterterrorism operation” in the North Caucasus.
It is reported that the lieutenant general was killed on April 25th as a result of an explosion from an improvised explosive device in a car parked near his home in the Moscow region city of Balashikha, when he was leaving the building.
The explosion, enhanced by the detonation of the car’s gas cylinder equipment, was so powerful that it threw Moskalik several meters away. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation accuses Ihnat Kuzin, a native of Ukraine, of being involved in eliminating the high-ranking military officer. Kuzin was arrested in Türkiye and extradited to Russia.
According to the investigation, it was Kuzin who parked the car near the military man’s house. He allegedly took the components for the explosives from a cache set up by the Ukrainian special services in the Moscow region.
