The operators of unmanned systems of the 13th Brigade of the National Guard eliminated 41 Russian soldiers using FPV drones and bombers during the day.
This was reported by the brigade’s press service.
Due to the constant surveillance of the battlefield by drones and the high accuracy of artillery, the simple entry of large groups of infantry to the line of contact has become extremely risky, so the Russian occupiers in the Charter’s area of responsibility have switched to the tactics of small groups to accumulate before a full-fledged assault.
However, the brigade’s battlefield surveillance and analysis system allowed it to detect the danger in advance and act proactively.
Within 24 hours, the drones sent on the hunt detected and eliminated more than a platoon of Russians with a series of accurate FPV drops and strikes. All enemy losses, including 41 infantrymen, were documented on video.
It is worth noting that the brigade bomber drones in the video operate even during daylight hours, which increases the risk of losing a large drone. However, due to their larger payload, they can hit ground targets more effectively.
Today, Khartiia Brigade is one of the leading brigades in the use of unmanned systems. In addition to strike drones, the guardsmen are also actively developing ground robotic systems. The unit has both wheeled and tracked drones in its arsenal. The operation has shown that both types of undercarriage can be used – it all depends on the task.
Currently, ground drones are used in three main niches: logistics, strike (kamikaze and automated turrets), and mine-clearing. This is not an exhaustive list, and the number of applications will grow. For example, the Charter Brigade unit is considering the possibility of using the NRC as a short-range electronic warfare or air defense system.
In December last year, the brigade reported conducting a fully robotic operation in the Kharkiv sector. Both ground and airborne components of the UAVs were used: manipulator drones, deminers, kamikazes, mobile turrets, and heavy multi-rotor bombers, surveillance copters, and various FPVs were used on the ground, and in the air.
The main goal of such missions is to reduce the presence of personnel in the processes of logistics, mining, etc.
“This is a human replacement, but not in its full sense. It’s not a standalone thing. It’s a tool that allows us to perform specific missions, to replace some part of the logistics. It is also an opportunity to provide greater protection for people who are on the front line, transporting property, supplies or moving between positions,” said Mathematician, an officer of the unmanned systems service of the planning section of the Khartiia Brigade, call sign Mathematician.
