The Ukrainian Military Armored Company HUB has developed a multi-purpose Katran maritime strike drone.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, confirmed the drone’s existence and said it can destroy targets at sea, on land, and in the air.

“Information about the missions with this drone is classified, but it has become a real game changer at sea,” Mykhailo Fedorov shared.

The drone is equipped with torpedoes on its flanks, a multi-barrel machine gun in its nose, a machine gun, and Piorun anti-aircraft missile systems mounted on the combat module.

The Browning machine gun, in a module with a 180-degree firing angle, is designed for airborne targets.

It can cover a distance of more than 1,000 kilometers and perform strike and reconnaissance operations. The drone can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h.

The Katran does not require a separate electronic warfare system; it has a built-in system for automatic threat detection and trap shooting.

“This is a super technology that sets a new standard for warfare,” Mykhailo Fedorov noted.

The manufacturer also notes that thanks to artificial intelligence systems and sensors, this drone is a powerful tool for combat missions.

For defense, it also has a trap firing system: the use of smoke and heat traps to evade missiles.

The Russians first reported the use of torpedoes from Ukrainian maritime drones in early March this year.

Since their first use in the Black Sea in June 2023, Ukrainian maritime drones have evolved from conventional “kamikazes” filled with explosives to multifunctional reusable vehicles.
