Doctors Removed Shell from Leg of Wounded Soldier

Ukrainian medics removed an anti-tank shell from the leg of a wounded soldier.

The operation was performed by the Second Medical Battalion under difficult conditions with a massive influx of wounded.

On that day, soldiers were continuously being brought to the medical unit, and this soldier was the second to arrive.

During the initial examination, the medics initially suspected an open fracture.

However, one of the doctors noticed signs that could indicate the presence of a munition in the wound.

A small part of the munition’s detonator was protruding from his leg.

The medics immediately called in bomb disposal experts and moved the wounded soldier to a safe location. Before proceeding, they put on body armors and helmets to avoid detonation risk.

“At first, we thought it was a VOG underbarrel grenade, but during the examination, we determined that it was a round from a mounted anti-tank grenade launcher (SPG),” the medics explained.

In the released video, the projectile resembles a shot from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher (RPG).

The projectile was carefully removed, and the medics saved the soldier’s leg, which they plan to restore during rehabilitation.

The recovered munition was handed over to sappers for further disposal.
