Iranian Propagandists Spread AI-Generated Video of ‘Strike’ on Ukrainian Targets

Iranian propaganda outlets are spreading disinformation about supposed strikes by Tehran on targets in Ukraine.

The video is being widely circulated online, including by a commentator from Sprinter Press Agency.

The clip, generated using artificial intelligence, depicts alleged ‘strikes’ on so-called ‘Ukrainian intelligence facilities,’ which are falsely claimed to have been used in attacks on Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

The video features three cities – Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro – where the respective targets were supposedly ‘destroyed.’ All of the footage shown is AI-generated.

The purpose behind spreading such materials remains unclear.

This is likely an information and psychological operation aimed at pressuring Ukraine and discouraging its cooperation with Middle Eastern countries, particularly in efforts to counter Iranian threats.

In early March, Tehran also publicly threatened European countries with strikes in response to possible support for a U.S.–Israeli coalition.

It is also worth noting that Iran has, in effect, already struck European territory, as well as two key military-political alliances, the EU and NATO, in a single incident.

This refers to events in the Republic of Cyprus, a member of the European Union.

At that time, Paphos Airport and the British airbase Akrotiri, which is sovereign UK territory, and therefore part of a NATO member state – was targeted.

According to data cited by Center for Strategic and International Studies, Iran possesses missiles that could theoretically reach Ukrainian territory – including Sejjil missile, Emad missile, Ghadr-110, Shahab-3, and Khorramshahr-2.

However, given the large circular error probable (CEP) of missiles in this class at maximum range, it is unlikely they could accurately strike such targets using a conventional warhead.
