The Hungarian Army has received 56 more Gidran armored fighting vehicles developed by Turkey.

The new batch of Gidran indicates further development of defense cooperation between Hungary and Turkey.

Back in 2023, Turkish armored vehicle manufacturer Nurol Makina and Hungarian Raba Otomotiv Holding signed an agreement to localize the production of armored vehicles.

Their total weight is 784 tons, and the total engine power is 21,000 horsepower.

These multi-purpose modular combat vehicles, weighing 14 tons and producing 375 horsepower, are designed to perform a wide range of tasks on the battlefield.

The Gidran can safely transport personnel, patrol, and perform surveillance tasks.

Upon arrival in Hungary, the vehicles will be equipped with communication systems. Only then will the Gidran acquire its final combat configuration, meeting the Hungarian Armed Forces standards.

These vehicles are an adapted version of the Turkish combat platform Ejder Yalçın, whose name translates to Formidable Dragon. The Gidran is already in use in various units of the Hungarian army, and this delivery will significantly strengthen the potential of the ground forces.

The vehicle has a gross vehicle weight of up to 14 tons and is equipped with STANAG 4569 Level 3b armor protection, providing withstanding fire from a 7.62 mm machine gun.

In addition, the mine protection ensures that the vehicle can withstand the detonation of eight kilograms of TNT under the bottom/wheel, which is equivalent in power to the most common Soviet anti-tank mine, TM-62.

The Hungarian armored vehicles are equipped with a remotely controlled SARP combat module from the Turkish company Aselsan with thermal imaging surveillance devices and stabilized weapons (12.7 mm M2 machine gun or 40 mm automatic grenade launcher).

The Gidran is equipped with a six-cylinder turbocharged Cummins ISL9E3 diesel engine, which provides a top speed of up to 110 km/h. The vehicle has a range of 700 km.
