Hanwha Aerospace and GoCraft have agreed to establish local maintenance facilities for Korean military equipment in Estonia.
This was reported to Militarnyi by Hanwha Aerospace.
GoCraft is an experienced multidisciplinary engineering company specializing in the maintenance, modernization and life cycle support of military and heavy equipment.
The agreement focuses on the transfer of maintenance know-how, professional training and localization of spare parts.
The cooperation is designed to ensure the reliable operation and safety of the supply chain of Chunmoo systems that Hanwha Aerospace supplies to Estonia.
It also strengthens the country’s sovereign defense capabilities by increasing the operational readiness of key systems.
The agreement builds on Hanwha’s existing presence in Estonia, including the delivery of K9 self-propelled howitzers in 2020 and a recent contract for Chunmoo systems.
The document should serve as a basis for expanding practical industrial cooperation between Estonia and Hanwha.
In the future, Hanwha is considering the possibility of establishing a Center of Excellence in Estonia in the event of opportunities related to the Redback infantry fighting vehicle.
Such a center would allow local industry to perform key maintenance work on key ground systems, including the K9, Chunmoo and Redback.
“By localizing maintenance and sharing technical knowledge with partners such as GoCraft, we are directly contributing to Estonia’s national defense capabilities,” the company said.
Estonia has also offered South Korean defense giant Hanwha Defense to expand weapons production on its territory.
