Norwegian company Griff Aviation has manufactured a GRIFF 60 cargo drone for the Ukrainian military.
The drone will be delivered to Ukraine through the Norwegian volunteer organization Fritt Ukraina.
The company said that it is donating its modern drone to Ukraine on its own initiative.
The GRIFF 60 cargo drone is equipped with eight engines and can carry a payload of 60 kilograms. The drone’s flight time is 33 minutes.
Its price ranges from NOK 2 to 3 million (approximately $180,000).
“The most important thing we can do from Norway is to give Ukrainians the opportunity to protect themselves. This drone can do just that and save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers,” said Fritt Ukraina volunteers.
The drone is capable of delivering military supplies and provisions.
“Now it is possible to safely transport and take out things by drone,” Griff Aviation said.
The company has several variants of its GRIFF series drones. In 2022, Griff Aviation also introduced a variant of its GRIFF 135 drone, which was equipped with M72 EC Mk1 grenade launchers.
To do this, the company has started working with NAMMO, which is developing a launch mechanism that will turn the GRIFF drone into an unmanned combat aircraft.
The aforementioned M72 EC Mk1 is usually a hand-held grenade launcher. Weighing 3.4 kg, it fires a 66 mm projectile with an initial velocity of 200 m/s. Two such disposable grenade launchers were installed on the GRIFF 135 drone.
Last year, Fritt Ukraina also joined the Drone Fall project of the Ukrainian foundation Come Back Alive.
