Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers is introducing spending restraints to redirect budget resources to defense needs.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi made the statement during an address to the Verkhovna Rada on September 1.
By reviewing expenditures unrelated to national defense, the government has already identified significant internal resources.
“As a result, we have already found UAH 70 billion, which will be fully allocated to defense needs,” Serhii Koretskyi said.
All identified unallocated funds will be redirected to support and finance the Ukrainian military.
According to the Prime Minister, the country’s defense budget deficit currently stands at $27 billion. To cover this amount, Ukraine is appealing to its international partners for emergency funding.
Previously, Lithuania has called on European countries to significantly increase and accelerate military aid to Ukraine over the next six to nine months.
