Fire Breaks Out at TsNIIMash Institute Involved in GLONASS and Ballistic Missile Programs

A fire broke out in Building No. 22 at the Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIImash) in the city of Korolyov, Moscow region.

The monitoring group Exilenova+ published photos and video of the fire, while Militanyi OSINT analysts identified its exact location.

Building No. 22 is part of the Roscosmos Mission Control Center facilities. The building is used to control spacecraft, receive telemetry data, monitor civilian and military space assets, and support operations aboard the International Space Station and Soyuz and Progress spacecraft.

According to OSINT Varta, JSC TsNIImash is the main research institute of Russia’s space industry.

The institute specializes in the design and testing of rocket and space technology and provides scientific and analytical support for the GLONASS satellite navigation system.

The institute is directly involved in Russia’s defense industry. Its experimental facilities support the testing of intercontinental ballistic missiles, satellite reconnaissance systems and navigation systems.

Due to its role in supporting Russia’s defense industry, the institute is subject to international sanctions imposed by the United States, European Union, Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
