In Kerch, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, a ferry terminal is on fire as a result of a drone attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The source of the fire was detected by NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service.
The ferry terminal is used by the enemy to unload ferries arriving from the Krasnodar Krai to the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula.
From there, the enemy also transports military equipment, missiles, and other weapons. The fire at the terminal was recorded at 02:26 at coordinates 45.364791489196854, 36.627007780473456
A previous strike on the ferry crossing area damaged three Russian ferries used for transport. One of the vessels hit was the Elena II rail ferry.
At the time Ukraine disabled three operational Russian ferries in June 2024, this vessel was not yet in the Black Sea.
Before being sold to Russia, the Elena II operated on domestic ferry routes in Greece, specifically between the mainland and the island of Salamis, as well as on the Rio-Antirrio route.
In addition, on June 5, the Telegram channel Crimean Wind reported that the enemy had used the ferry to transport missiles for the S-300/400 air defense systems.
The occupiers transported them alongside civilian vehicles.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Russian car and passenger ferry Lavrentiy, which was attacked by Ukrainian drones, sustained critical damage to its superstructure.
As a result of the fire, the upper deck of the superstructure was completely destroyed, and the passenger compartment was likely also burned out from the inside.
Currently, because all ferries are out of service and not operating, Russia is unable to use this route to support its troops in Crimea or to supply fuel there.
