Factory and Warehouse Fires Reported After Drone Attack on the Moscow Region

Ukrainian drones struck several targets inRussia’s Moscow region early on Tuesday, July 28.

Videos published by the Exilenova+ monitoring channel appear to show the attacks.

One drone reportedly hit an industrial facility in the city of Chekhov. According to preliminary information from Astra, a fire broke out at the Chekhov Regeneration Plant following the strike.

The facility specializes in recycling worn-out vehicle tires and manufacturing reclaimed rubber, rubber crumb, rubber powder, and a wide range of rubber products.

According to the company, it is one of Russia’s largest manufacturers in this sector. In addition to tire recycling products, the plant produces more than 600 types of rubber-engineered products.

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov claimed that the “falling UAV” caused tires stored in an open area to catch fire.

In addition, drones reportedly struck warehouse facilities near the town of Koledino in the Moscow region.

Eyewitnesses have shared footage showing thick black smoke billowing into the sky from the fire at the site.

Preliminary reports indicate the fire has engulfed a warehouse operated by a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) company, which receives goods, stores them, fulfills orders, packs and labels products, and arranges shipments to other warehouses.

Footage shared by local residents suggests that Ukraine’s Defense Forces used FP-1 long-range drones and Shahed-type UAVs, reportedly the Sichen version, in the attack on targets in the Moscow region.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claimed that Russian air defenses had intercepted at least 81 drones heading toward the Russian capital.
