F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes During Training Flight in U.S.

A U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jet assigned to the 149th Fighter Wing at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas crashed in a rural area of Michigan.

The incident occurred in Grand Traverse County during a training flight, the New York Post reports.

The pilot successfully ejected and was taken to the nearest hospital.

The aircraft exploded upon impact, sending a thick column of smoke into the sky above the crash site. No civilians were injured, and no residential buildings were damaged.

Representatives of the 149th Fighter Wing noted that an investigation into the causes and circumstances of the crash had been launched. The unit operates F-16C/D Block 30 fighter jets.

In August, an MH-60 Black Hawk military helicopter crashed in the United States during a training flight.

Four people were aboard the aircraft, and none of them were injured in the crash.
